FYP Executive Summary.

Title:

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND CHARACTERIZATION OF FIBER-REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITES.

2.  Problem statement

In industry, polymers are widely been used in manufacturing of products but polymers have comparatively low strength and elasticity. To improve the strength and elasticity of the polymers, it must have the combination of two or more homogeneous materials with different material properties that act as fibers and matrix. Fiber Reinforced Polymer composites (FRP) is the solution. It has high strength, lightweight and rigid structure. But, FRP also have a certain failure which involves the fibers orientation and the exerted force.

3. Objectives 

To investigate the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced polymers composites.

 To analyze the orientation of fiber with the exerted force

To perform a physical machining of fiber-reinforced polymer composites.

4. Scope of research

This project focused on investigation of mechanical properties and characterization of fiber reinforced polymer composites and also focused on how to increase the strength of FRP and to eliminates the weak side of the FRP.

5. Expected outcome

The analysis and focus on the mechanical properties and characterization of fiber-reinforced polymer composites will be achieved.

Third meeting with SV.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone...

Today (Thursday, 18/9/2014) on 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon we have met Prof Dewan to finalize our title because today is the last day to register our topic in the goggle doc which have been provided by the faculty.

My title has been totally changed. Before this, my title was Processing and Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of Ni-Al2O3 composites. But now, my title is Mechanical Properties and Characterization of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites which is I like it the most.

Prof Dewan brought us to meet Sakinah, she is one of the master student that was doing some research related to our topic. Sakinah will help us along our research. I am glad that she will be able to help us.

Prof Dewan told us to start doing our first chapter which is introduction, objective and so on. He also said that we will do the next meeting with others students under Dr Asif because our topics are related.

Second meeting with SV.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone...

My friends and I have made our second meeting with Prof Dewan on Monday (15/9/2014) at 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon to discuss and finalize our title so that we can register our title in the goggle doc that have been provided by the faculty. But, Prof Dewan didn't finalize that yet. He told us to meet him again on Thursday and finalize our title.

Although the title haven't been finalize yet, we still did some discussion on what should we do for our research project. I have got some clues and ideas about my research. Prof Dewan told us to get some journals and research on Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites. So, I have found some articles about it.

Prof Dewan said he will introduce us with one of the master student to help us with the project because she also was doing some research related to our title. So, we just need to meet Prof Dewan again on this thursday.

First meeting with SV.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone...

This is my first writing for this blog so I will begin to story about my final year project. I got the title of Processing and Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of Ni-Al2O3 Composites. I think this title is so interesting and that is why I chose this title at the first place. I love to learn more about materials and composites. 

Before I begin my research on this title, I need to meet my SV first so that he can explain more about this title. So, my friends and I whose shared the same SV has made our first meeting with our SV on Friday (12/9/2014) at 10 o'clock in the morning. 

Our SV is Prof Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman. He is a very nice person and he shared a lots of his experiences. He made us calm and don't worry too much about our topics. If we can't proceed with our title, we can change it according to his evaluation. We are also can get help from other lecturers and friends along the research. So, I feel very happy to get Prof Dewan as my SV.
